PART 5 – No More Roads to Walk Alone

PART 5 – No More Roads to Walk Alone

Laura recovered over the following weeks.

The story of Noah and Emma spread across the country.

People couldn't believe two children had walked more than twenty miles because they trusted every word their mother had spoken.

Donations poured in.

A local contractor gave the family a small house.

A grocery store owner offered Laura a full-time job with benefits.

Jack, the truck driver, visited every Sunday.

Emma called him "Uncle Jack."

The sheriff's department created a new emergency outreach program for families facing eviction, making sure no parent would ever have to choose between finding work and leaving children behind.

Months later...

On Noah's first day of kindergarten...

Laura stood outside the school holding both of her children's hands.

When classes ended that afternoon, Noah spotted her waiting by the gate.

He ran into her arms.

"I knew you'd come."

Laura hugged him tightly.

"I'll always come now."

Years later, a small sign was placed beside the county road where the children had been found.

It read:

"Two little hearts walked this road believing love was waiting at the end. They were right."

Whenever Noah drove past that road as an adult, he slowed down for a moment.

Not because he remembered the hunger.

Or the blisters on his feet.

He remembered one lesson that stayed with him forever:

The End.
