Arrogant groom kicks out "poor" mother-in-law, unaware his bride is a secret billionaire!

Arrogant groom kicks out "poor" mother-in-law, unaware his bride is a secret billionaire!

In the middle of the lavish ballroom, the arrogant groom shoved his modestly dressed mother-in-law onto the cold marble floor.

"You worthless hag! Get out of my party!"

The entire room gasped. Without hesitation, the bride in her elegant white jumpsuit stepped in and landed a hard slap across his face.

Shielding her trembling mother, she roared: "Don’t you ever touch my mother again! I funded your entire company and elite lifestyle, every single penny. I’m cutting off all funds! My lawyer will see you tomorrow."

She tore off her engagement ring and slammed it to the floor. The groom turned pale as stone, suddenly realizing he had just destroyed his own golden ticket...

Part 2: The mask falls off!

The heavy silence in the grand ballroom of the Grand Regency Hotel was suffocating. Seconds ago, crystal chandeliers had beamed down on soft laughter, clinking champagne flutes, and the gentle melody of a live string quartet. Now, the music had died, and all eyes were pinned on the center of the room.

Mark Vance stood frozen, his cheek burning red where the imprint of Sarah’s palm still lingered. The sting of the slap was nothing compared to the ice-cold dread creeping down his spine.

On the polished marble floor, Eleanor—Sarah’s mother—was trembling, clutching her worn cardigan over her chest. Her eyes, filled with tears and confusion, looked up at the man who was supposed to become her son-in-law in less than a month.

"Sarah... babe, wait," Mark stammered, his voice cracking as he took a step forward, his hands raised defensively. "You're misunderstanding the situation! This... this old woman just wandered into our private engagement gala. She was ruining the atmosphere. Look at how she's dressed! I was just protecting our guests!"

Sarah didn't yell this time. Her voice dropped to a quiet, deadly whisper that echoed clearer than any shout.

"She didn't wander in, Mark," Sarah said, her eyes burning with pure contempt as she helped her mother gently to her feet. "I invited her. She is my mother."

Gasps rippled through the crowd. Mark’s mother, Evelyn Vance, who was standing nearby draped in a sapphire silk gown, let out a sharp, mocking scoff.

"Your mother?" Evelyn sneered, taking a step forward while adjusting her diamond necklace. "Sarah, darling, don't be ridiculous. You told us your family was from a small rural town and lived modestly. This woman looks like a street beggar! Mark is the CEO of Vance Logistics now. How could you humiliate him by bringing someone like this to an elite high-society event?"

Sarah slowly turned her gaze toward Evelyn. The sheer composure in Sarah’s posture made the older woman instinctively step back.

"Vance Logistics?" Sarah repeated, a bitter smile touching her lips. "Is that what you're calling the empty shell of a company I saved from bankruptcy six months ago?"

Mark’s face drained of what little color it had left. "Sarah, please! Not here. We can talk about business in private—"

"No, Mark. We talk right here," Sarah interrupted, her voice firm as steel. She looked around at the crowd of prominent investors, socialites, and city officials who were hanging on her every word.

"Three years ago, when I met Mark, he was working out of a rented garage with $80,000 in credit card debt," Sarah said clearly. "He told me he had big dreams. He swore he was a man of integrity who valued family above all else. I believed him. So I made a call."

She pointed a finger directly at Mark’s chest.

"Every single contract Vance Logistics signed with global shippers over the past two years? Arranged by my family’s trust. The $5 million seed capital that cleared your debts and paid for your penthouse? Wired from my private account. Even the bespoke suit you’re wearing right now to look like a high-powered executive—I paid for it!"

The whispers among the guests exploded into an uproar. Prominent businessmen who had come to the party specifically to network with Mark began exchanging uneasy, skeptical glances.

"You told me your family came from nothing!" Mark hissed under his breath, his ego crumbling into desperation. "You wore plain clothes! You drove an old sedan! How was I supposed to know?"

"I wanted a man who loved me for who I was, not for my family's fortune," Sarah said, wrapping an arm around her mother's shaking shoulders. "My mother worked eighteen hours a day in a bakery to raise me after my father died. She hands-frosted wedding cakes so I could go to college. Her hands are calloused, Mark, but they are ten times cleaner than yours."

Eleanor pulled softly on Sarah’s sleeve, her voice faint. "Sarah, honey... let's just go. Don't ruin your big night because of me..."

"There is no big night, Mom," Sarah replied softly, kissing her mother’s forehead before turning back to Mark. "It ends tonight."

Mark panicked. He looked at the engagement ring lying cold on the floor between them—a flawless three-carat diamond that he had bragged to the press about buying, though the funds had come directly from a line of credit backed by Sarah's assets.

"Sarah, please! I made a mistake! I was stressed, I didn't recognize her!" Mark dropped to one knee, reaching out to grab the hem of her white jumpsuit. "I love you! We can fix this right now. Tell everyone it's just a misunderstanding!"

Before Sarah could kick his hand away, the heavy oak doors at the entrance of the ballroom swung wide open.

A tall man in an immaculate dark charcoal suit marched into the hall, flanked by two security guards in black uniforms. He carried a sleek leather briefcase and walked straight past the frozen crowd, stopping right beside Sarah.

It was Arthur Sterling—the most feared corporate litigation attorney in the state.

"Good evening, Ms. Montgomery," Arthur said respectfully, bowing his head slightly toward Sarah before turning a cold stare toward Mark. "I received your call ten minutes ago. The emergency injunctions have already been filed."

Mark scrambled back up to his feet, his heart hammering against his ribs. "Injunctions? What are you talking about? Who are you?"

Arthur opened his briefcase and pulled out a stack of legal documents stamped with official court seals.

"Mr. Vance," Arthur announced loudly enough for the entire ballroom to hear. "As of five minutes ago, all credit lines extended to Vance Logistics by the Montgomery Global Trust have been frozen. Furthermore, we are initiating an immediate audit of your company’s accounts due to suspected misappropriation of funds."

"Misappropriation?!" Mark gasped, clutching his head. "That's absurd!"

"Is it?" Arthur smiled thinly. "Because five minutes ago, our team discovered a series of unauthorized wire transfers totaling $1.2 million from your corporate account to a private offshore account registered under a different name..."

Sarah’s eyes narrowed. "A different name?"

Arthur nodded, pulling out a photo from the file and handing it to Sarah. "Transfers made directly to a Ms. Chloe Bennett... who, according to hotel records, checked into the penthouse suite of this very hotel an hour ago under Mr. Vance's personal reservation."

The entire room went dead silent. Mark turned completely pale, his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water.

Sarah looked at the photograph of Mark's "executive assistant," then looked up at Mark, her eyes colder than ice.
