PART 3 – The Scent That Refused to Fade

PART 3 – The Scent That Refused to Fade

Officer Jake Collins had trusted Rex for nearly four years.

The German Shepherd had tracked missing children...

Found hidden weapons...

Even detected explosives.

But he had never seen the dog behave like this.

Rex wasn't barking.

He wasn't aggressive.

He simply refused to leave Ben.

Then, without warning...

Rex spun around and pulled hard toward the underground parking garage.

"Rex!" Jake shouted.

The dog ignored him.

Mall security followed as Rex raced through rows of parked cars.

He finally stopped beside an old gray delivery van.

The vehicle looked abandoned.

Dust covered the windows.

Its registration had expired months earlier.

Rex began scratching furiously at the driver's door.

Jake frowned.

"Run the plate."

Minutes later...

Dispatch answered.

The van had been reported stolen...

The same week Officer Daniel Hayes disappeared.

Jake's heart pounded.

Detectives arrived and searched the vehicle.

Inside they found nothing valuable.

Just an old police blanket...

A cracked flashlight...

And a faded baseball cap.

The moment Ben saw the cap...

He burst into tears.

"That's my dad's."

Rex gently picked up the cap in his mouth.

Then looked directly at Jake.

The officer suddenly realized something.

Rex wasn't following Ben.

He had been following Daniel's scent all along.

But the greatest discovery wasn't inside the van.

It was hidden beneath it.

A tiny GPS tracker...

May you like

Still blinking.

Someone had forgotten to remove it.
