PART 4 – The Father Everyone Thought Had Died

PART 4 – The Father Everyone Thought Had Died

David Brooks never stopped searching for his family.

Seven years earlier, a warehouse explosion left him trapped beneath collapsing steel beams.

His injuries were catastrophic.

Multiple surgeries.

Months in a coma.

Years of rehabilitation.

By the time he regained his memory...

Grace had disappeared.

Without money.

Without a home.

Without any way to find him.

Every search ended the same way.

No records.

No address.

No trace.

Until that evening.

The television showed a little boy refusing to eat pizza.

Holding a baby girl.

David froze.

The little boy smiled exactly like he had when he was six.

Especially the dimples.

He whispered,

"Noah..."

Doctors immediately contacted Detective Reed.

DNA testing was completed overnight.

The results confirmed what David's heart already knew.

Probability of paternity:

99.9999%.

The next afternoon...

David arrived at Anthony's pizza shop.

Noah stood by the front window.

Still watching the street.

Still hoping his mother might appear.

David slowly knelt.

"Buddy..."

Noah looked up.

"Yes?"

"I'm your dad."

The little boy stared silently.

Then asked the question every adult feared.

"Did Mommy find you?"

David lowered his head.

Tears rolled freely down his face.

May you like

"No."

"But she never stopped trying."
