The security footage played across the detective's monitor.
Vanessa's voice echoed through the room.
"Once that baby is born..."
"Everything changes."
Another voice answered.
Carol.
"We've worked too hard building this family business."
"The company belongs to your son."
Vanessa nodded.
"If Ethan has a child..."
"My boy loses half the inheritance."
Then came the most chilling words.
Vanessa leaned over my crying body and whispered:
"Lose the baby..."
"And nobody will ever question where the money goes."
Detective Bennett looked toward Ethan.
"They never cared about the affair."
"They invented it."
"They only wanted your wife isolated."
The investigation uncovered even more.
Vanessa had hired someone to photograph me outside the fertility clinic.
She edited timestamps.
Deleted surrounding images.
Created fake text messages.
Even convinced Carol that I had betrayed her son.
Everything...
Had been planned months before the assault.
Meanwhile...
Doctors managed to deliver our baby by emergency C-section.
A tiny baby girl.
Barely breathing.
Only four pounds.
Ethan stood beside the incubator crying.
The nurse smiled gently.
"She fought very hard."
"So did her mother."
He placed one finger inside the incubator.
The baby wrapped her tiny hand around it.
At that exact moment...
Two police officers entered the neonatal ward.
"Captain Brooks..."
"We have warrants."
"For your mother."
