PART 4: Unraveling the Digital Fraud

PART 4: Unraveling the Digital Fraud

Stolen credentials expose internal conspiracies.

"Objection, Your Honor!"

A voice rang out from the back of the prosecution team.

Andrew Vale looked too shaken to object himself.

"This establishes physical presence in a hospital, but it does not technically prove he couldn't have accessed a remote terminal!"

Judge Sterling raised a hand.

He silenced the junior prosecutor instantly with a sharp glare.

"Counsel, the hospital logs place him miles away from the corporate headquarters during the time of the breach," Judge Sterling said coldly.

"Furthermore, Nurse Oliver’s testimony confirms physical caregiving duties that make remote programming physically impossible."

"But to put all doubts to rest, I ordered an emergency technical audit of the corporate workstation logs this morning."

The judge tapped a button on his desk.

A large digital projection screen dropped down from the ceiling of the courtroom.

It illuminated the dim room in a harsh blue light.

A technical diagram appeared on the display.

It displayed IP addresses, MAC addresses, and physical server access logs from the night of the crime.

"The system logs show physical access to the defendant's workstation," Judge Sterling read aloud from the court’s technical report.

"However, the security camera footage from the corporate IT floor—which the police miraculously omitted from their original evidence package—shows an entirely different individual sitting at Mr. Lucas's desk during those hours."

The video feed on the screen flickered to life.

Grainy night-vision footage showed a man in a dark hoodie sliding into Lucas's empty cubicle.

He plugged an unauthorized flash drive into the USB port.

He executed the illegal financial transfers.

As the man on screen turned his head slightly toward the overhead camera lens, the courtroom gasped in unison.

It wasn't Lucas.

It was corporate Vice President Marcus Vance.

He was one of the primary financial backers of the prosecution's firm.

Lucas stared at the screen in absolute disbelief.

Andrew Vale gripped the edge of the wooden table so hard his knuckles turned completely white.
