PART 3: Summoning the Key Witness

PART 3: Summoning the Key Witness

Medical records expose corrupted investigations.

The door swung open.

The court bailiff stepped inside.

He was holding a crisp manila folder containing the urgent communications retrieved from the medical facility.

"Your Honor, the records from Hope Medical Center have arrived," the bailiff reported.

He placed the file squarely on the desk.

Judge Sterling flipped open the folder.

His eyes scanned the official timestamps, admission logs, and digital logs.

They placed Lucas—Isabelle’s father—in room 4208 of the pediatric wing during the exact hour the corporate transactions were executed.

The evidence was undeniable, crystal-clear, and completely contradictory to the prosecution's entire narrative.

"I want Nurse Martha Oliver summoned to testify today," Judge Sterling ordered without looking up.

His voice carried absolute finality.

"Consider it top priority."

"Bring her to this court immediately."

"Your Honor, that may take several hours to locate the witness and secure transport," the bailiff cautioned.

He glanced nervously at his watch.

"Then start now," the judge replied sternly.

He slammed the folder shut.

"And make sure the defense counsel and the defendant are brought back into the courtroom."

"We are reopening the evidentiary phase."

Outside in the holding cells, Lucas sat on a metal bench with his head in his hands.

He wondered if his daughter’s brave outburst had only made things worse for them both.

When the bailiff unlocked his cell and told him he was being brought back before the judge, Lucas braced himself for the worst.

He expected another rejection of his rights.

He didn't know that the tide of the entire trial had just turned on a pivot of pure truth and unwavering paternal love.

As Lucas walked back into the courtroom, his eyes met Isabelle’s sitting in the gallery.

She offered him a small, encouraging nod that defied all logic and fear.

It reminded him that hope was still alive.

The Nurse’s Testimony

Hospital shifts reveal undeniable alibis.

The courtroom gallery held its collective breath.

The heavy double doors opened.

Nurse Martha Oliver walked down the center aisle.

She was dressed in her crisp white medical uniform.

She looked tired, having just come off a grueling shift.

Her expression carried the unshakeable gravity of someone who valued human life and professional integrity above all else.

She took the witness stand.

She placed her hand upon the bible.

She swore the oath before the bench.

Her voice was steady and clear.

"Ms. Oliver, did you work at Hope Medical Center on the night in question?" Prosecutor Andrew Vale asked.

He stepped forward with a forced composure, trying desperately to regain control of the narrative as he faced the witness box.

"Yes, Your Honor."

"I was on duty in the pediatric wing," Nurse Oliver answered clearly.

Her voice carried across the silent room.

"And do you recognize the defendant, Lucas, seated at the defense table?"

"I do," she nodded.

She turned her gaze toward Lucas with profound sympathy.

"He was there."

"Room 4208."

"His daughter, Isabelle, was admitted late that evening with a severe medical crisis."

"He didn't leave her bedside for a single second."

A murmur rippled through the courtroom benches as the spectators absorbed the absolute weight of her testimony.

"Are you certain of the time, Ms. Oliver?" Judge Sterling inquired.

He leaned toward the microphone.

"The prosecution claims digital transactions were executed using his workstation credentials between 2:00 AM and 4:00 AM."

"I am entirely certain, Your Honor," Nurse Oliver stated firmly.

She opened a personal logbook.

"At 2:15 AM, Isabelle woke up screaming in pain."

"Mr. Lucas sang softly to calm her down while I administered intravenous medication."

"At 3:30 AM, he helped me adjust her pillows."

"I even remarked to the head nurse that morning that I had never witnessed a more devoted father."

Andrew Vale’s face paled significantly.

He realized his carefully constructed case was unraveling stitch by stitch right before the eyes of the public.
