PART 6: Reclaiming What Matters

Innocence finds shelter after the storm.

I scooped Noah up into my arms, pulling him close against my chest as he wrapped his tiny arms securely around my neck.

“Is the wedding over, Grandpa?” he asked quietly, resting his sleepy head against my shoulder with absolute trust.

“Yeah, buddy,” I whispered, kissing the top of his dark curls and holding him tighter than I ever had in my entire life. “The wedding is over. Let’s go home and see Mommy.”

“I’m so sorry I didn't tell you sooner, Dad,” Emily sobbed softly into my shoulder. “I was so scared you wouldn't believe me over her.”

“You never have to apologize for protecting yourself, sweetheart,” I told her, kissing her forehead. “The blindfold is off. For good.”
