PART 3 – The Letter Hidden Inside the Blanket

PART 3 – The Letter Hidden Inside the Blanket

Police and child services arrived quietly.

They didn't want to frighten the children.

Emma immediately hugged Lily tighter.

"Please..."

"Don't take her."

"We stay together."

Detective Sarah Collins knelt beside her.

"No one's taking your sister."

"We just want to help."

As a social worker wrapped Lily in a clean blanket...

Something slipped onto the floor.

An envelope.

Yellowed.

Folded several times.

It simply read:

For Whoever Finds My Girls.

Detective Collins carefully opened it.

Inside was a handwritten letter.

My name is Rachel Morgan.

If you're reading this, then I couldn't come back.

Please don't blame my daughters.

Their father doesn't know they exist.

I left because someone powerful wanted to hurt us.

Anna covered her mouth.

The detective continued reading.

Emma is brave.

She'll try to take care of Lily.

Please don't let them separate.

Everyone in the diner was crying.

Emma looked confused.

"Did Mommy write that?"

The detective nodded.

"When?"

Emma asked.

Sarah couldn't answer.

Because hospital records had already confirmed...

Rachel Morgan had died four days earlier after collapsing from untreated pneumonia.

She had spent her last strength...

Writing that letter.

Before placing it inside Lily's blanket.

But the final sentence froze everyone.

If you ever find Michael Carter... tell him Lily has his eyes.

The detective slowly looked up.

Michael Carter.
