PART 6: The Matriarch’s Vengeance

PART 6: The Matriarch’s Vengeance

Elderly matriarchs reclaim stolen family thrones.

The silence that followed the billionaire's declaration was so absolute you could hear the distant hum of the building's central air conditioning.

Julian looked as though she had been struck by lightning.

"Your... your wife?" Julian choked out, taking a frantic step backward, her expensive red silk dress swishing against the marble. "That's impossible! You aren't married! There was no announcement, no society gala, no—"

"We didn't want a circus," Harrison interrupted coldly. "And frankly, looking at how the family treats people who actually work for a living, I'm glad we spared her the guest list."

Before Julian could scramble for a comeback, a mechanical whirring sound broke the tension.

From the dark corner where she had been shoved earlier, elderly Evelyn Vance maneuvered her motorized wheelchair forward, navigating smoothly across the polished marble floor.

Her face was lined with age, but her eyes—sharp, brilliant, and utterly unforgiving—were fixed entirely on her granddaughter, Julian.

"She called her a peasant," Evelyn spoke up, her voice raspy with age yet cutting through the room with crystal clarity.

Julian blinked, turning toward the matriarch. "Grandmother, I didn't mean—"

"Shut your mouth, Julian," Evelyn snapped, lifting her wrinkled hand to point a shaking, accusatory finger at her. "For twenty years, I've watched you bully the staff, terrorize your cousins, and treat everyone outside our tax bracket like dirt beneath your shoes. I stayed silent because I thought maturity would catch up to you. I was wrong."

She rolled her wheelchair until she stopped right beside Harrison and Clara.

Clara instantly knelt down, resting her hands gently over the old woman's cold, frail fingers.

Evelyn smiled warmly down at Clara, patting her hand affectionately before turning her fierce glare back toward Julian and the trembling general manager, Arthur.

"Arthur," Evelyn said, her voice dropping into a chilling command. "You are fired. Clean out your desk by sunrise, or I'll have my estate attorneys sue you for gross negligence and workplace harassment."

Arthur swallowed hard, opening his mouth to plead, but one look at Harrison's icy expression told him it was hopeless. He nodded miserably and slunk away toward the service exit.

Evelyn then turned her attention to Julian.

"As for you, Julian," the matriarch continued, her tone devoid of any familial warmth. "Effective immediately, your trust fund is frozen. Your corporate housing allowance is terminated. And your name is being stricken from the Vance Family Trust voting charter."

Julian let out a blood-curdling shriek.

"You can't do that! You're stripping me of everything!"

"I'm giving you what you've earned," Evelyn retorted sharply. "Go out into the real world, get a job, and try surviving an eight-hour shift on your feet without stepping on someone else's dignity. Security—escort her out. The sight of her red dress is ruining my evening."

Two massive security guards didn't hesitate this time.

They stepped forward, grabbing Julian firmly by her designer silk sleeves, and physically dragged the screaming, flailing heiress out through the grand double doors of the ballroom while high society watched in stunned, terrified silence.
