Part 5 – The Recording Olivia Buried Destroyed the Carter Family Forever

Part 5 – The Recording Olivia Buried Destroyed the Carter Family Forever
The Carter family estate had never been so quiet.
Not during board meetings.
Not during billion-dollar negotiations.
Not even during funerals.
Everyone waited for Sebastian to speak.
Instead...
He looked at me.
Then at Ethan.
Sophie.
Lucas.
Finally...
He turned toward Olivia.
"Tell me the truth."
Olivia slowly shook her head.
"I already did."
"No."
His voice remained calm.
Too calm.
"The truth."
She forced a weak smile.
"You're letting Hannah manipulate you."
Without another word, I opened the final recording.
The timestamp showed exactly five years earlier.
The day after I gave birth.
A woman's voice answered Sebastian's phone.
Olivia.
> "She's still alive."
Another woman laughed quietly.
Sebastian's mother.
> "Good. Has she stopped calling?"
> "Not yet."
> "Delete everything."
A pause.
> "What if Sebastian asks?"
> "He won't."
> "By the time he comes home..."
> "...he'll believe she abandoned him."
Olivia laughed softly.
> "And the babies?"
Another silence.
Then...
The sentence that shattered everything.
> "If he never knows they exist..."
> "...he'll marry into the Bennett family exactly as planned."
No one moved.
Even the attorneys looked stunned.
Sebastian slowly turned toward Olivia.
"You..."
His voice cracked.
"You listened to her crying in that hospital..."
"...and deleted every message?"
Olivia couldn't answer.
Because she knew everyone in that room had heard the truth.
Sebastian's mother finally stood.
"This isn't what it sounds like."
The family attorney interrupted.
"Mrs. Carter..."
"I've represented this family for thirty-two years."
"I've never heard anything exactly like this."
Sebastian looked at his mother.
"You told me Hannah lost the babies."
She nodded weakly.
"I was trying to protect you."
"Protect me?"
His voice rose for the first time.
"You stole five years from me."
"You stole five years from my children."
"You stole five years from their mother."
She reached for his arm.
He stepped away.
For perhaps the first time in his entire life...
His mother had no control over him.
Across the room...
My three children watched silently.
Lucas whispered to Sophie.
"Is everybody in trouble?"
She nodded.
"I think grown-ups lie more than kids."
Several people quietly lowered their heads.
Even the judge couldn't hide a sad smile.
The family attorney opened another folder.
"There is something else."
He placed several certified documents onto the table.
"The Carter Family Foundation."
"Mr. Sebastian Carter designated his future children as equal beneficiaries six years ago."
Sebastian frowned.
"I did?"
The attorney nodded.
"You insisted."
"You said if you ever became a father..."
"...your children would never have to fight over money."
The trust had continued growing for years.
Dividends.
Investments.
Real estate.
Everything had remained untouched.
Because everyone believed...
There were no children.
Olivia quietly whispered,
"I didn't know..."
I looked directly at her.
"You knew enough to destroy every message I sent."
She lowered her head.
The engagement ring on her finger suddenly seemed impossibly heavy.
Then Sebastian slowly walked toward my children.
He stopped several feet away.
He didn't try to hug them.
Didn't reach for them.
Didn't even speak immediately.
Instead...
He knelt.
Lower than all three of them.
"I'm sorry."
No excuses.
No explanations.
Only two words.
Ethan looked at him carefully.
"My mommy cries when nobody's watching."
Sebastian closed his eyes.
"I know."
Lucas tilted his head.
"Was it because of you?"
After a long silence...
"Yes."
Sophie folded her little arms.
"Then you should say sorry to her too."
Sebastian looked up at me.
"I've spent five years hating the wrong person."
"You don't owe me forgiveness."
"But I owe you the truth."
I answered quietly.
"The truth is finally here."
"What you do with it..."
"...is your responsibility."
At that exact moment...
The judge signed the first emergency order.
Olivia Bennett was officially placed under criminal investigation for evidence destruction, fraud, obstruction, and intentional interference with parental rights.
Then...
The Carter matriarch received another document.
A civil complaint.
Filed that very morning.
For emotional damages.
Medical expenses.
Lost business opportunities.
And five years of deliberate parental alienation.

The woman who once controlled every decision inside the Carter empire suddenly realized...
She would now spend years defending herself instead.
