PART 6: The Confrontation at the Boardroom

PART 6: The Confrontation at the Boardroom

Billionaire executives dismantle corporate saboteurs.

Two days later, the high-security boardroom at Vale Global Headquarters on Milk Street was packed to capacity for an emergency executive session.

As the head of the family trust and primary managing director, Adrian had summoned every senior partner, legal counsel, and board member to address the corporate media storm.

I sat at the end of the polished quartz conference table alongside Adrian, wearing a sharp, professional navy blazer Adrian’s stylists had rushed to the penthouse, while Lucia played quietly with an electronic tablet in the private executive lounge visible through the glass partition.

The double doors swung open, and Celeste Winthrop marched into the boardroom, flanked by her own high-priced attorney, Marcus Vance.

Celeste wore an ice-white Chanel suit, her chin tilted up with defiant arrogance, expecting to intimidate the board into halting the genealogical recognition process.

“Adrian, calling an emergency board meeting to push through an unverified genealogical claim is a direct violation of corporate governance protocol,” Celeste announced loudly as she approached the table, slamming a thick legal binder down onto the quartz surface. “You are exposing the Vale enterprise to severe shareholder liability!”

Adrian didn't even stand up.

He leaned back in his leather chair, interlocking his fingers over his chest, staring at Celeste as if she were a mild annoyance on the bottom of his shoe.

“Governance protocol, Celeste?” Adrian asked coolly. “Is that what you call hiring a disgraced corporate lawyer to leak sealed eviction records to the tabloid press?”

Celeste’s eyes flickered with momentary panic, but she recovered quickly, tossing her blonde hair over her shoulder.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about! I am merely protecting the integrity of the family trust from opportunistic fraudsters!” she declared, gesturing toward me with a contemptuous wave of her hand.

Marcus Vance, her attorney, cleared his throat nervously, opening his leather briefcase.

“Mr. Vale, legally speaking, until the official DNA sequencing and archival cross-referencing are formally entered into probate court, Ms. Bennett’s claims remain legally unproven,” Marcus stated, adjusting his glasses. “Pushing her inheritance through without a public evidentiary hearing will invite immediate shareholder litigation.”

Adrian smiled—a cold, humorless expression that made both Celeste and her lawyer take an involuntary step backward.

“You’re entirely right, Marcus,” Adrian agreed smoothly. “Formal evidentiary hearings are important. Which is why my legal team didn't just run a routine genealogical check.”

Adrian pressed a button on his desk console.

The massive digital presentation screen behind him flickered to life, illuminating the entire boardroom with a high-resolution financial audit trail.

“This is a forensic ledger tracking the unauthorized transfer of four hundred and eighty thousand dollars from the Vale Philanthropic Foundation’s contingency accounts over the last fourteen months,” Adrian stated, his voice ringing with razor-sharp authority.

Celeste’s face drained of all color.

“The funds were funneled through three domestic shell companies registered in Delaware,” Adrian continued, scrolling down to reveal a signature page bearing a familiar name. “Managed directly by Winthrop Corporate Strategies—owned and operated exclusively by Ms. Celeste Winthrop.”

The boardroom erupted into immediate, stunned murmurs among the senior partners.

Celeste stared at the screen, her mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water, trembling violently as the trap snapped shut around her.
