PART 7: Dawn of a New Dynasty
Unbroken bosses rule with open hearts.
The morning sun broke over the Chicago skyline, casting a warm, golden wash across the sprawling lawns and manicured gardens of the Hale estate.
When I walked down to the grand dining room for breakfast at 8:00 AM, the table was set differently than it had been the night before.
The massive table for twenty was still there, polished and grand.
But right beside my primary seat, a small, secondary place setting had been added—complete with a child-sized cup and a small plate of chocolate chip pancakes.
Amara walked into the dining room a moment later, holding her mother’s hand, wearing her teal dress and looking up with wide, curious eyes.
When she saw the small plate waiting for her, a bright, gap-toothed smile broke across her face.
She looked up at me, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Can I sit with you again, Mister?" she asked softly.
I pulled out the chair right beside mine—the chair that had sat empty and cold for two agonizing years—and gestured for her to climb up.
"Always, Amara," I said, my voice steady, warm, and entirely unburdened. "Always."
Grace stood near the doorway, watching us with tears of relief shining in her eyes, finally understanding that her quiet gamble had paid off.
The world outside our gates still whispered my name in fearful, hushed tones.
The police still called me untouchable.
The syndicates still feared the wrath of the Boss.
None of that had changed.
My empire was still secured by iron gates, encrypted servers, and men willing to die for my name.
But inside these walls, the silence was finally broken.

Some men rule their houses with absolute fear and iron fists.
I preferred a house where a little girl could walk in, pull up a chair, and remind a lonely mafia boss that even the darkest winters eventually yield to spring.
