PART 5: The Arraignment Blockade
A courtroom learns the cost of federal defiance.
By noon in Virginia—7:00 P.M. in London—Paige’s arraignment commenced at the Arlington County Municipal Court, though the federal prosecutor’s office had successfully motioned to transfer jurisdiction due to the classified workspace breach.
My secure tactical feed allowed me to patch into the virtual proceedings from my hotel desk.
The courtroom was stark, lit by fluorescent panels that cast harsh shadows over Paige’s exhausted, tear-streaked face.
She wasn't wearing her designer handbag or her smug expression anymore; she was draped in a standard-issue detention jumpsuit, flanked by a public defender who looked like he wanted to crawl underneath the defense table and hide.
The presiding judge, a no-nonsense jurist named Judge Harrison, adjusted his reading glasses and stared down at the multi-page federal indictment resting on his wooden podium.
"Mrs. Paige Miller," Judge Harrison’s voice boomed through the audio channel. "You are formally charged with unlawful entry into a designated federal auxiliary zone, malicious destruction of government-adjacent property, and resisting a lawful security protocol."
Paige gasped, leaning toward her court-appointed attorney. "Government property?! It’s a residential condo! My sister lives there!"
"Your sister’s residence incorporates a secure federal relay node utilized by the United States Marshals Service," Judge Harrison corrected sharply, not looking up from the documents. "When you forced entry past a digital disclaimer and struck a biometric security barrier with a heavy iron implement, you crossed the legal threshold from a domestic trespass into a federal security violation."
"She set me up!" Paige wailed, her composure finally shattering completely as the reality of a multi-year felony indictment settled over her. "She knew we were coming! She left the door code active on purpose!"
"The record indicates the code was a temporary maintenance credential left active by administrative oversight, which you bypassed after explicit, written instructions to vacate the premises," Judge Harrison stated coldly. "Furthermore, the court has reviewed transcripts of your mother attempting to coordinate an illegal squatters' occupation via intercepted communications."
My mother’s name dropping into the court record caused a audible gasp in the public gallery.

Judge Harrison looked directly into the camera feed, knowing I was observing from across the Atlantic.
"The defendant is remanded without bail pending a psychological and flight-risk evaluation," the judge ruled, bringing his gavel down with a sharp, echoing crack. "Court adjourned."
