PART 5: The Architect of Ruin Falls

PART 5: The Architect of Ruin Falls

Arrogance meets absolute federal power.

I walked through the shattered, smoke-filled entryway of the mansion in full tactical gear, my boots crunching over fragments of crystal chandeliers and spilled breakfast mimosas.

Federal agents swarmed the corridors like ants, seizing laptops, financial ledgers, and encrypted burner phones from mahogany desks and bedside tables.

In the grand dining room, Victor Hale was pinned face-first against the mahogany breakfast table by two heavy-set federal marshals, his tailored charcoal suit stained with spilled orange juice and broken porcelain.

The man who had sat outside the hospital room waving his gold watch with supreme confidence was now trembling uncontrollably, his silver hair disheveled, his mouth opening and closing like a stranded fish.

“What is the meaning of this?!” Victor screamed, his voice cracking with sheer, unadulterated panic as an agent hauled him upright by his collar. “Do you know who I am?! Call the governor! Call Judge Vance! You federal thugs can't touch me!”

“Judge Vance was arrested forty-five minutes ago at his home in Great Falls,” the United States Attorney announced coldly, stepping through the shattered doorway behind me carrying a thick leather briefcase. “Along with Detective Miller, who is currently signing a full, unredacted confession regarding your obstruction of justice and domestic conspiracy.”

Victor’s face turned the color of spoiled milk.

His eyes darted wildly around the room until they finally locked onto me standing in the doorway, stripped of my civilian jacket, wearing the uniform and bearing of a seasoned Delta operative.

“Hunter... please,” Victor choked out, his knees finally buckling as the marshals forced him into a heavy dining chair. “You’re a family man... she’s my daughter... we can work something out... name your price!”

I walked slowly across the room, stopping inches away from his trembling form, looking down into eyes that had ordered the mutilation of an innocent woman.

“Thirty-one fractures, Victor,” I said, my voice dropping into a quiet, lethal register that made the federal agents nearby step back instinctively. “That’s thirty-one federal counts of attempted murder in aid of racketeering, conspiracy, and interstate money laundering. You and your sons aren't going to a county holding cell. You’re going to ADX Florence Supermax. You’ll spend the rest of your natural lives staring at four concrete walls, completely cut off from the world.”

Dominic, pinned against the floor nearby by two tactical operators, began to weep openly, his tough-guy gym persona completely dissolved into pathetic, blubbering terror.

“Dad... tell them to stop... Dad, make it stop!” Dominic sobbed into the floorboards.

Victor looked at his weeping sons, then back at me, finally realizing with crystal-clear horror that his entire empire had been vaporized in less than six hours by a man he had foolishly underestimated as a ghost soldier.
