PART 3: The Beggar Girl Played One Song... And The Billionaire Realized She Was His Lost Daughter

Jonathan couldn't sleep that night.

The melody refused to leave his mind.

At sunrise, Detective Laura Bennett sat across from him inside his office, listening carefully as he replayed the hotel security footage.

The little girl's fingers moved effortlessly across the piano keys.

Laura paused the video.

"Have you noticed something?"

Jonathan leaned closer.

The girl's left hand.

She always curled her little finger slightly before beginning each phrase.

His heart skipped.

Sophie had done the exact same thing.

When she was learning piano at four years old, her instructor always teased her about that tiny habit.

Jonathan had laughed every time.

No stranger could imitate something so natural.

Laura immediately requested a DNA test.

The problem was finding the little girl again.

By the time hotel staff searched outside, she had vanished.

Only the elderly janitor remembered where she usually slept.

"Under the old railway bridge," he whispered.

"She looks after another little boy."

That afternoon Jonathan drove there himself.

He found her sharing half a sandwich with a boy no older than five.

She smiled politely.

"I knew you'd come."

Jonathan's throat tightened.

"You did?"

"My mommy always said..."

"...if anyone ever cried when I played that song..."

"...it meant they loved me."

She introduced herself as Lily.

She remembered almost nothing before the age of three.

Only music.

The butterfly necklace.

And a woman she called Mommy.

"My mommy got very sick."

"Before she died..."

"...she told me never to sell the necklace."

Jonathan carefully held back tears.

"Did she tell you where she found you?"

Lily shook her head.

"No."

"She only said someone wanted to take me away."

Detective Bennett quietly collected a DNA sample.

Three days later...

The laboratory called.

Jonathan and Laura arrived together.

The geneticist looked unusually nervous.

"There is a..."

"...99.9999% probability..."

"...that Lily Whitmore is your biological daughter."

Jonathan stopped breathing.

After seven years...

His little girl had finally come home.

But one question still remained.

If Sophie had survived...

Whose funeral had he attended?

And who had convinced an entire city she was dead?
